How We Do Our Work
First, we do not come with your answers. Rather, we offer a series of clarifying questions that guides you into a measurable framework of what kids need to succeed. These questions allow you to gain insight into how you can improve your systems from a number of multiple entry points.
We know what youth need, and we work with our clients to deliver the full spectrum of youth development. We provide training and consulting services, advocacy efforts, resources and research to make your work as effective as possible. We create tools for national, state, and local leaders to support youth to become meaningfully engaged in the civic life of their schools and communities. We support youth, and governing boards in improving systems of youth-in-governance for their boards and commissions.
Civic-US looks for organizations and individuals who are ready to deepen their youth development work. We work with school districts, individual schools, national and state organizations, community organizations, researchers, policymakers, and philanthropists.
In our work we offer experiences from hundreds of previous examples. We will:
- Appreciate and build upon your knowledge, skills, and practices.
- Search for common experiences with other, highly effective, youth/adult partnership programs and initiatives.
- Listen to what you need, rather than give you a "one size fits all solution" and its corresponding three ring binder.
- Share what we learn to the broader field of youth and community development.
We generate practical tools and resources like:
- Detailed reports on readiness and what is working well in your organization;
- Data collection instruments;
- Youth leadership support networks and learning opportunities;
- A community of support to share ideas with;
- Training that expands skills, strengthens motivation, and connects your staff to peers; and
- Strategic implementation techniques that help your organizations understand where to best start this work.
